They work best at a specific resolution which is called 'the native resolution'. Modern LCD monitors and laptop screens often support higher resolutions, such as 4K and 8K. Old CRT monitors generally have a display resolution of 800 × 600 or 1024 × 768 pixels and also support a set of different resolutions with a satisfactory screen refresh rate.
